The Department of Environment and Heritage (DEH) have engaged Australian Water Environments (AWE) to undertake a preliminary desk top salinity impact assessment of the
hydrological management options that are proposed for Katfish Reach. The study area is located south to south-west of the township of Berri on the River Murray (Figure 1.1).
The Katfish Reach Implementation Plan has identified a number of initiatives that involve varying the hydrologic regime. When implementing hydrologic changes, the Murray Darling Basin Commission requires the salinity impact of proposed changes be assessed and has provided a framework for these assessments (Fuller and Telfer, 2007). This report presents a range of possible salinity impacts of the proposed actions based on the available data and identifies the work needed to be done to provide a more constrained estimate of the salt impacts.
